This guide is relevant to you if you are in the process of integrating Scanova's Analytics with your Google Analytics 4 (GA4) account and you are unsure about measurement id and measurement protocol API secret.
Google Analytics 4 measurement ID allows Google to understand to which property a tracking code belongs. If you are using Google Tag Manager to install GA4, you have to enter the measurement ID there.
Here are the steps for finding the Measurement Id:
- Login to your Google Analytics 4 property
- Once you do that, click the gear icon in the bottom left corner of the Google Analytics 4 interface
- Then in the property column, click Data Streams
- Then select a web data stream that you see there
- A new window will appear, and at the top-right column, you will see an ID that starts with G-
- This is your GA4 measurement ID. Copy the entire ID and paste it wherever you need it
Here are the steps to create a measurement protocol API secret:
- Go to your Google Analytics Admin > Data Streams and open your chosen stream
- Scroll down to the Additional Settings tab and click on Measurement Protocol API secrets; then click Create
- You will have to create a nickname for your new API secret
- You will need to copy the Secret value provided. This value is confidential and should only be shared with the application you are integrating with
Now you have the measurement id and API secret that you can provide in Scanova.
