Age Restriction allows you to easily enable age verification settings on your Dynamic QR Codes. Once the feature is enabled, end-users will be prompted to enter their date of birth upon scanning the QR Code. You will be able to see detailed analytics and reports on the age distribution of your QR Code scans. Age Restriction is available for Standard, Pro, and Enterprise Plan users only.
Follow the steps below to get started:
1. Sign up or log in to your Scanova account.
2. Create a new QR Code. Select a QR Code category (say Website URL QR Code). Enter the required content and proceed to the next step.
3. Go to Advanced Settings and select Age Restriction.
4. Set the minimum age required to access the content linked to your QR Code. This ensures that only users above the specified age can view your content.
6. Once done, click on Create QR Code.
7. To edit the minimum age or add restrictions to existing QR Codes, go to My QR Codes on the sidebar navigation panel.
8. Select the required code. Click on View/Edit QR Code.
9. Go to Advanced Settings and select Age Restriction (if not selected already).
10. Enter the new age and click on Update QR Code.
How does the feature work?
If you have enabled Age Restriction for your QR Codes, users will be prompted to enter their date of birth after scanning the QR Code. If their age is above the specified minimum age they will be redirected to the content but if it’s under the minimum age they will see an error message "Uh oh. You're not eligible to view this content".
Fetching reports and analytics for the Age Restriction feature
You can fetch detailed analytics and reports of the scans from the Analytics section to monitor and analyze the age distribution of your QR Code scans. Below are the analytics that will be available:
1. Scans by Age pie chart: A pie chart of the age distribution of users who scanned your QR Codes will be displayed at the bottom of the Analytics page with the heading Scans by Age. Here the data will be segregated into three parameters:
- Scans above the minimum age
- Scans below the minimum age
- Unverified (this represents users who scanned the QR Code and left the page without entering their date of birth)
2. Scan Report: After downloading the scan report (by clicking on the Export Scan Report), you will see a new column 'is_above_min_age' at the end of the sheet, after the address information. This column indicates whether the user is above the specified minimum age. This column will have three parameters:
- True: Scans above the minimum age
- False: Scans below the minimum age
- Unverified (this represents users who scanned the QR Code and left the page without entering their date of birth)
Note: If your QR Codes don’t have the Age Restriction feature, then you will see a hyphen (-) in the report. For further queries, contact our customer relations team at support@scanova.io.
