Use this guide to enable Age Restriction Check on your QR Codes using the Scanova QR Code Generator tool.
About the feature
The Age Restriction advanced setting available on our tool, allows you to easily enable age verification settings on your QR Codes. Once the feature is enabled end-users will be prompted to enter their date of birth upon scanning the QR Code. Also, you'll be able to see detailed analytics and reports on the age distribution of your QR Code scans.
Enabling Age-Restriction Advanced Settings
1. SignUp/Login to your Scanova Account
2. Create a new QR Code from the available categories or select an existing one that you want to apply Age Restriction to
3. Go to the Advanced Settings section
4. Check the box beside Age Verification
5. Set the minimum age required for accessing the content linked to your QR Code. This ensures that only users above the specified age can view the encoded content.
6. Once you've configured the age restriction settings, click on Create QR Code/Update QR Code (for existing ones)
How does the feature work
If you have enabled the advanced settings of Age Restriction to your QR Codes, users will be prompted to enter their date of birth to continue after scanning the QR Code. If their age is above the specified minimum age they will be redirected to the content but if it is under the minimum age they will see an error message "Uh oh. You're not eligible to view this content".
Fetching Reports and Analytics for the Age Restriction feature
You can fetch detailed analytics and reports of the scans from the Analytics section to monitor and analyze the age distribution of your QR Code scans. Below are the Analytics that will be available:
- Scans by Age Pie chart: A pie chart of the age distribution of users who scanned your QR Codes will be displayed at the bottom of the Analytics page with the heading Scans by Age. Here the data will be segregated into three parameters:
- Scans above the minimum age
- Scans below the minimum age
- Unverified (this represents users who scanned the QR Code and left the page without entering their date of birth)
- Scan Report: In the Export Analytics section after downloading the Scan report (by clicking on the Export Scan Report button), you'll see a new column 'is_above_min_age' at the end of the sheet, appearing after the address information. This column indicates whether the user is above the specified minimum age. This column will have three parameters:
- True: Scans above the minimum age
- False: Scans below the minimum age
- Unverified (this represents users who scanned the QR Code and left the page without entering their date of birth)
Note: If your QR Codes do not have the Age Restriction feature applied then you'll see a '-' in the report.
