Use this guide to understand what happens when you deactivate your Dynamic QR Codes created using the Scanova QR Code Generator tool.
Deactivating a QR Code is a feature of Dynamic QR Codes. It is not possible to deactivate a Static QR Code as it stores the data in the QR Code itself.
Below are two ways by which you can deactivate a QR Code using Scanova:
- Manual Deactivation from Dashboard
- Auto-deactivation with predefined date and time
Manual Deactivation
You have the option to manually deactivate a QR Code at any time. When you manually deactivate a QR Code and it is scanned by a user, they will be directed to a landing page that displays the message, 'This QR Code has been deactivated.' For more details, please see: How can I deactivate
Auto-Deactivation Feature
Scanova offers an Auto-deactivation feature for Pro and Enterprise users. With this feature, you can set an expiration date and time for your QR Codes. Once the expiration date is reached, the QR Code will automatically be deactivated. You can also customize the text that you want to display to users after the QR Code has been scanned and has expired. This allows you to provide specific instructions or messages to users when the QR Code is no longer active. For details, please see: How to set a Deactivation date for a QR Code
In summary, when you deactivate a QR Code, whether manually or through the auto-deactivation feature, the users will either see a 'This QR Code has been deactivated' message (in the case of manual deactivation) or a customized message of your choice (if using the auto-deactivation feature) when they scan the QR Code after it has been deactivated.
