This article explains how to create, customize, and enhance a Website URL QR Code in Scanova, including advanced options such as Conditional Redirection and UTM parameters.
Introduction
A Website URL QR Code enables users to quickly access a specific website by scanning the code. This makes it ideal for marketing campaigns, business cards, product packaging, or any other medium where you want to direct users to a particular website.
With Scanova, you can not only create a Website URL QR Code but also customize it, apply conditional rules for redirection, and add UTM parameters to track campaign performance.
A. Create a Website URL QR Code
Follow these steps to create a QR Code that directs users to your chosen website:
Log in to your Scanova account and go to the Dashboard
Click QR Codes > Create QR Code
From the list of QR Code types, select Website URL QR Code
Enter the desired website URL in the field provided
- Enter the QR Code name and add tags
Click Create QR Code
- Once the QR Code is created, an option to test the QR Code will appear below the QR Code image
-
Customize the QR Code (optional):
Designs: Choose from design templates or create a custom look
Colors: Set foreground and background colors to match your branding
Logo: Add your brand logo in the center of the QR Code
Shapes: Modify module and pattern styles for a unique design
Download your QR Code in PNG, SVG, JPG, PDF, EPS, or PS format
B. Configure Conditional Redirection
Conditional Redirection allows you to set up rules so that the same QR Code redirects to different URLs depending on scan conditions. This ensures a personalized experience for end-users.
Available conditions include:
Country: Redirect users from different countries to different websites
Device type: Redirect based on whether the scanner is on mobile, tablet, PC, or other devices
Operating system: Redirect based on the OS of the scanning device
Browser language: Redirect based on the browser’s default language (for example, English users to an English page and French users to a French page)
Steps to enable Conditional Redirection:
Go to QR Codes > Create QR Code and select Website URL
Enter the primary website URL (this acts as the fallback URL)
Click on Advanced Settings > Conditional Redirection
Choose your preferred conditions and set the redirection URL and click on save
Note: Conditional Redirection is available only in the Pro and Enterprise Plans.
C. Add UTM parameters
Adding UTM parameters to a Website URL QR Code helps track campaign performance in analytics tools like Google Analytics.
Available options
Standard UTM parameters: utm_campaign, utm_medium, utm_source, utm_term, utm_content
Custom parameters: Up to 5 additional parameters
Steps to add UTM parameters
In the Enter Content step, click Advanced Settings
Open Tracking Parameters
Enter the required UTM values
Click Save and generate the QR Code
Viewing UTM data
UTM parameters appear in Analytics reports after scanning
Data can be exported in CSV or Excel formats
