This article explains how to deactivate a QR Code in Scanova, useful for users who wish to control the accessibility of their QR Codes.
Deactivating QR Codes is an essential feature for managing QR Code campaigns. This feature allows users to disable a QR Code that no longer wants to be scanned, ensuring that scanners see a deactivation message instead of the original content.
A. How to Deactivate a QR Code
- Log in to the Scanova account
- Go to My QR Codes in the left panel
- Select the QR Code to deactivate, and click View/Edit
- Toggle the Status button above the QR Code image to deactivate it
Once deactivated, anyone scanning the QR Code will see a message: “This QR Code has been deactivated.”
Note: Only dynamic QR Codes can be deactivated. Static QR Codes cannot be disabled since the data is stored directly within them.
B. Setting a Deactivation Date
For more advanced management, set a deactivation date for the QR Codes. This feature allows QR Codes to automatically expire after a certain time, which is useful for time-sensitive promotions.
- Log in to the Scanova account
- Go to My QR Codes in the left panel
- Select the QR Code to deactivate, and click View/Edit
- Click on Advance Settings
- Check box the Auto-Deactivate option
- Set the deactivation date and time as per the preference
- Click on Update QR Code
Note: This feature is available for Pro or Enterprise plan users.
C. What Happens When a QR Code Is Deactivated?
After deactivation, the QR Code will not lead to its intended content. Instead, users scanning the code will be redirected to a landing page with a message stating that the QR Code has been deactivated. If needed, reactivate the QR Code by toggling the status back to "active."
