This article explains what happens when a Scanova subscription expires and how users can renew, upgrade, downgrade, or manage their account and QR Codes.
When a Scanova subscription expires, Dynamic QR Codes become inactive and certain advanced features are restricted. However, data is retained for a defined period, allowing users to reactivate their account without losing QR Codes.
Below are the details regarding expiry, reactivation, plan changes, and related account actions.
A. Expiration and retention of Dynamic QR Codes
Dynamic QR Code deactivation
Once the free trial or paid subscription ends, all Dynamic QR Codes are automatically deactivated
Deactivated Dynamic QR Codes stop working and no longer redirect users
Static QR Codes remain functional even without an active subscription
Dynamic QR Codes require an active subscription to function.
Data retention
All Dynamic QR Codes and associated data are retained for 26 months from the date of deactivation
During this period, users can renew the subscription and restore full functionality
Permanent deletion
If the subscription is not renewed within 26 months, all data including Dynamic QR Codes is permanently deleted
This ensures compliance with data privacy policies
B. Reactivating expired QR Codes
To reactivate expired Dynamic QR Codes:
Log in to the Scanova account
Go to Subscription > Plans
Choose the desired plan
Complete the payment process
Once payment is successful, previously deactivated Dynamic QR Codes are restored and become operational.
If the account used is unknown
Scan the expired QR Code
Click on Notify Owner
An email is sent to the registered email address associated with that QR Code
C. Upgrading or downgrading subscription plans
Downgrading a plan
When downgrading (for example, from Pro Plan to Lite Plan):
Any unused subscription credits are adjusted to the new plan
The remaining value extends the validity of the new plan
Example: If a user paid for 12 months and used 6 months, the remaining value is applied to extend the new plan duration.
Upgrading a plan
When upgrading:
Remaining subscription credits can be applied as a discount coupon toward the new plan
ORThe validity of the new plan can be extended based on the remaining credit
Refund policy
Refunds are not issued for plan upgrades or downgrades
D. Adding QR Codes or features after expiry
If additional QR Codes or advanced features are required, users can subscribe to a suitable plan:
Basic Plan – Up to 3 QR Codes
Lite Plan – Up to 5 QR Codes
Standard Plan – Up to 25 QR Codes
Pro Plan – Up to 250 QR Codes
Enterprise Plan – Custom limits and advanced features
The Enterprise Plan includes:
Bulk QR Code creation
Custom domain support
Shared users
Enhanced security features
Advanced privacy controls
E. Analytics limitations in lower plans
Users on the following plans have access only to basic analytics:
Basic (30 Days) Plan
Lite Plan
Ultra-Lite Plan
Basic analytics include:
Total scans by time
To access detailed analytics such as:
Device type
Location
Browser
GPS data
Upgrade to the Standard Plan or Pro Plan.
F. Canceling auto-renewal
To cancel auto-renewal:
Log in to the Scanova account
Go to Subscription > Cancel Auto-Renewal
Enter the account password to confirm
After cancellation:
The subscription remains active until the end of the current billing cycle
No further charges are applied
G. Transferring QR Codes between accounts
Scanova allows QR Code transfers upon request.
To initiate a transfer, send an email to support@scanova.io with:
Source account email address
Destination account email address
List of QR Codes to be transferred
The support team assists with the transfer process.
H. Custom analytics and data privacy (Enterprise Plan)
Enterprise Plan users can request limitations on data tracking to comply with internal privacy policies.
Upon request, the following data can be restricted:
GPS location
IP address
This feature is useful for organizations with strict compliance requirements.
