This article helps users enable location permissions in Safari, Chrome, and Firefox browsers on mobile devices to ensure location-enabled QR Codes function correctly.
When a location-enabled QR Code is scanned, the browser must have permission to access the device’s location to display the relevant content. If the browser does not prompt for location access, it may be blocked in the settings. Follow the instructions below to enable location access for the respective mobile browsers.
A. Enable location in Safari (iPhone/iPad)
Safari offers multiple ways to enable location access. Users may follow any of the methods listed below:
Option 1: From the Safari browser
- Open the Safari browser and visit the QR Code link
- Tap the aA icon or website address in the address bar
- Select Website Settings
- Tap Location and select Allow
Option 2: From iOS Settings
- Navigate to Settings > Safari
- Tap Location and choose either Ask or Allow
Option 3: From Privacy settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services
- Tap Safari Websites
- Choose Ask or While Using the App
B. Enable location in Chrome
On Android:
- Open Chrome and visit the QR Code link
- Tap the padlock icon (View site information) next to the address bar
- Tap Permissions > Location
- Choose Allow
Kindly note: If access is still restricted, navigate to Settings > Apps > Chrome > Permissions > Location and enable access.
On iPhone/iPad:
- Launch the Chrome browser
- Tap the three dots in the bottom right corner and go to Settings
- Tap Content Settings > Location
- Select Allow
C. Enable location in Firefox (Android/iPhone)
- Open the Firefox browser and visit the QR Code link
- If prompted, tap Allow to grant location access
- If the prompt does not appear:
- Navigate to Settings > Firefox > Location
- Set to Ask or While Using the App
- Navigate to Settings > Firefox > Location
Kindly note: If the location prompt still does not appear, please ensure the browser’s location access is enabled in the device’s system settings.
