Quick Answer: A Dynamic QR Code, once generated, cannot be converted into a Static QR Code and vice versa. To get a Static QR Code, you will need to create a new QR Code and set the QR Code type (Static/Dynamic) before the QR Code is generated. This will determine how the QR Code is generated.
Given below is more information about Dynamic and Static QR Codes:
Dynamic QR Codes are advanced QR Codes that are editable and trackable and require an ongoing subscription to work.
Whereas, Static QR Codes are non-editable i.e. you cannot edit the content once the QR Code has been generated. However, Static QR Codes once created work forever i.e. they do not require an ongoing subscription with the service provider.
Static QR Codes are also non-trackable, which means you cannot track how many people have scanned your QR Code. Scan tracking is useful in use cases such as promotional campaigns.
- In Static QR Codes, the target data (which is the content that you wish to display when users scan your QR Code) gets hardcoded directly into the QR Code. Hence, once a Static QR Code is created, the content of the QR Code cannot be changed in the future
- Whereas in Dynamic QR Codes, URL of the service provider gets hard coded in the QR Code, which then redirects users to the target data. This means that when you create a Dynamic QR Code, our URL (i.e. https://scnv.io/abc) gets stored in the QR Code. On scanning, our URL redirects users to your content. Hence, the content of a Dynamic QR Code can be changed anytime in the future.
