Exact GPS Location is an analytics feature provided by Scanova QR Code Generator for Pro and Enterprise Plan users. Using it you can get details like the exact geo-location (exact map coordinates) of the scanning device that scanned your Dynamic QR Code.
By default, every Dynamic QR Code is enabled for general scan tracking. However, GPS Data is an advanced feature and needs to be enabled either during the creation of a Dynamic QR Code or the updating of an existing one.
Enabling GPS Location Feature for Dynamic QR Codes
Watch the demo video below to learn more about this feature:
Alternatively, follow the steps below to get started:
1. Login to your Scanova account.
2. Create a new QR Code. Select a QR Code category (say Website URL QR Code). Enter the required content and proceed to the next step.
3. Go to Advanced Settings. Select Get Exact GPS location of Scan and proceed.
4. For existing QR Codes, go to My QR Codes on the sidebar navigation panel.
5. Select a Dynamic QR Code and click on View/Edit QR Code.
6. Go to Advanced Settings and select Get Exact GPS location of Scan. Click on Update QR Code.
Using The GPS Location Feature
Once the feature has been enabled, here’s what will happen:
1. Say you have printed the Dynamic QR Code in a magazine advertisement.
2. When a reader scans this code using their smartphone and attempts to view linked content, the mobile browser will launch
3. The browser will then prompt the user to grant permission to access the exact geo-location. This is typically a pop-up with the buttons—Allow and Deny. Design can vary from browser to browser
4. If the user selects Allow, then Scanova will record their exact GPS location and the user will be redirected to the linked content.
5. If the user selects Deny, Scanova won’t be able to record their exact GPS location and the user will be redirected to the linked content.
6. If the user doesn’t take an action, Scanova won’t be able to record their exact GPS location and the user will be redirected to the linked content.
View & Download GPS Data
Here is how you can view and download the exact GPS data of Dynamic QR Codes:
1. Go to Analytics on the sidebar navigation panel.
2. Choose the QR Code and time period. Note: Chosen QR Code(s) should have GPS Data feature enabled to view and download required data.
