Integrate With LinkedIn Ads
This article explains how to integrate LinkedIn Ads (Insight Tag) with Scanova QR Codes to track QR Code scans, build retargeting audiences, and measure campaign performance.
Introduction
Scanova allows users to integrate the LinkedIn Insight Tag with QR Codes to connect offline QR Code scans with LinkedIn’s online advertising ecosystem.
When a QR Code placed on physical media—such as posters, brochures, or product packaging—is scanned, the LinkedIn Insight Tag executes when the QR Code redirect page loads in the user’s browser.. LinkedIn then records this interaction as website activity, which can be used to create matched audiences for retargeting and to measure campaign effectiveness. No personal contact information is shared or stored.
A. Prerequisites
Before setting up the LinkedIn Ads integration, ensure the following:
- Scanova Pro or Enterprise plan with admin privileges
- An active LinkedIn Ads account
- LinkedIn Insight Tag already created and connected to your website
- At least one published QR Code in Scanova
B. How to get Partner ID from LinkedIn Ads
Follow these steps to find your LinkedIn Partner ID:
- Log in to LinkedIn Ads (LinkedIn Campaign Manager)
- Select the ad account you want to use
- From the side menu, open Data and select Signal Managers
- Click Insight Tag
- Under Choose how to install your tag, expand I will use a Tag Manager
- Copy the Partner ID (numeric value) to use in Scanova
C. Set up LinkedIn Ads integration
To configure the LinkedIn Ads integration in Scanova:
- Log in to the Scanova dashboard
- Go to Integrations
- Locate LinkedIn Ads Integration
- Enter the LinkedIn Partner ID
- Example: 123456
- Choose where to apply the tracking:
- All QR Codes
- Selected QR Codes (choose from the dropdown list)
- Click Save Integration
The LinkedIn Partner ID will now be linked to the selected QR Codes.
D. Create the QR Code audience in LinkedIn Ads
To build a retargeting audience based on QR Code scans:
- Log in to LinkedIn Campaign Manager
- Select your ad account and go to Plan > Audiences
- Click Create audience and select Matched Audience
- Under Retarget by, select Website and click Next
- Enter an audience name and select the engagement time period
- 90 days is selected by default
- Under Select actions from your website, ensure:
- Pages is selected
- The domain is set to scnv.io or your custom domain
- From the list of URLs receiving traffic, select the QR Code short URL(s)
- Example: https://scnv.io/wxyz
- Click Next step, then Agree & create
E. Use a custom domain for reliable tracking
Scanova recommends using a custom domain when running LinkedIn Ads campaigns.
- Cookies are stored at the domain level
- Using the default Scanova domain (scnv.io) may lead to tracking overlap across campaigns
- A custom domain ensures cleaner audience data, accurate segmentation, and reliable conversion tracking

F. Redirection delay for tracking accuracy
For QR Codes in redirection categories such as Website URL, Maps, and App Store, Scanova briefly displays an intermediate page for 2–3 seconds before redirecting users to the final destination.
This delay ensures that the LinkedIn Insight Tag fires correctly and improves the chances of capturing audience and conversion events.
Notes
- The QR Code audience does not populate instantly
- It can take up to 48 hours for audience data to appear
- The QR Code must be live and receive unique scans
- Low scan volume may result in small or empty audiences initially
